Fly Away Field Agility Training

Hi, and welcome to my stockdog training page. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

My training philosophies are geared toward teaching the dog and handler to read livestock and to teach the dog how to not only read livestock but to control the livestock as well, not to follow livestock around a course. Dogs should be able to control their stock not only in an arena type setting but also in larger areas.

I have been working and training dog for the last seventeen years. My Aussies compete in ASCA, AHBA, and AKC herding events. I have five WTCHís (ASCA Working Trial Champions), three AKC Herding Excellent dogs and four HTCH's (AHBA Herding Trial Champion). They all have multiple High in Trials and High Combine in Trials.
My Aussies and I have made it to the ASCA National Stockdog Finals and have placed in the top 10. I also have put a number of ASCA, AHBA, and AKC started, open, and advanced titles on other's dogs.

Some of the other breeds I have put titles on include; Rotties, Belgian Treverns, Corgies, BCs, GSDs, Shelties.
Some of the dog and owners I have trained include; BC, Cattle Dog, Sheltie, Aussie, Trev, Collie, Schnauzer, Bouvier, Bergamasco, Corgi, Greater Swiss Mt Dog, Samoyed, Poodle, Bermese Mt Dog, and Mix Breeds.

My students also compete sucessfully in AHBA, AKC and ASCA. They have numerous titles and High in Trials.

I have been doing clinics, seminars, and herding lessons on the East Coast for twelve years, and for the past eleven years have had my own field, sheep and ducks, in which I host clinics and lessons on a regular basis, all year round. In the summer I am available weekdays and weekends, wintertime only weekends.

I work with all listed herding breeds, mixes and their people.Ý I host at least 2-3 clinics a year. There are also agility and breed clubs that host clinics as they are great fund raisers for the clubs.Ý Fly Away Field hosts ASCA, and AHBA trials 3-4 times per year.

Contact me for info on fund raising ideas!

My facility consists of a 5 acre field, a 110' by 210' arena, 100' round pen, chutes, pens, large and small barn areas. Stock - ducks, sheep and occasionally cattle

Below is a photo of "the field."  If you look closely, you can see the sheep...a hair/wool cross flock.

I have a nice mixture of sheep, from very dog-broke to quite light.  Because I know my sheep very well, I can make whatever combination your dog needs for training.

Below you see the round pen.

If you are interested in lessons or your club is interested in holding a clinic or instinct tests, please contact me for current rates.
